Overview

De is hiring dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Housekeepers  to join our medical facilities in Daytona Beach and Port Orange.

The Environmental Services Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment in assigned areas of the facility. This role plays a critical part in infection prevention, patient and staff safety, and overall facility appearance. Duties include cleaning patient rooms, offices, public spaces, restrooms, and clinical areas following strict cleaning protocols and standards.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect patient/resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, and common areas.

  • Perform daily floor care, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and spot cleaning.

  • Dispose of trash, biohazardous waste, and recyclables according to safety and infection control policies.

  • Restock paper goods, soap, sanitizer, and other supplies in restrooms and other areas.

  • Follow cleaning schedules and procedures for high-touch and isolation areas.

  • Operate cleaning equipment such as floor machines, buffers, and carts safely and effectively.

  • Report maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards to supervisors.

  • Handle linen distribution and collection as needed.

  • Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and facility safety and infection prevention guidelines.

  • Assist with emergency clean-ups such as spills, accidents, or terminal cleaning of discharged rooms.


 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial experience preferred, especially in healthcare or hospitality.

  • On-the-job training provided.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.

  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and chemical usage (training provided).

  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Physical ability to perform required tasks, including lifting up to 35 lbs, standing for long periods, and frequent bending, stretching, or walking.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and infection prevention.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Work performed indoors in a healthcare or institutional setting.

  • Frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals, waste, and bodily fluids (with proper PPE).

  • May include rotating weekends, holidays, and shift work depending on facility needs.
