DE is hiring a Mechanical Drafter to provide engineering drafting, document ration and assistance to support the Manufacturing company.
The Manufacturing Drafter – is responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings, models, and documentation for pump components and assemblies used in industrial and commercial applications. This position supports engineering and manufacturing teams by translating design concepts and specifications into production-ready blueprints, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
Prepare detailed mechanical drawings of pump components, assemblies, piping systems, and fabrication layouts using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.).
Develop bill of materials (BOMs), part lists, and technical documentation for production and procurement.
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to interpret design intent and revise drawings as needed.
Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 standards.
Ensure that designs meet applicable specifications, codes, and manufacturing processes.
Update and maintain drawing records and databases according to company revision control procedures.
Assist in the development and documentation of manufacturing procedures and assembly instructions.
Provide drafting support during prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting phases.
Communicate with machine shops, vendors, and internal departments to resolve drawing-related issues.
Education and Experience:
Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field.
2+ years of drafting experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably with pumps, valves, or rotating equipment).
Familiarity with hydraulic systems, fluid dynamics, or pump system design is a plus.
Software Skills:
Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Autodesk Inventor.
Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and ERP integration preferred.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes (e.g., casting, machining, welding, and assembly).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications.
High attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Work is primarily performed in an office or engineering lab environment with occasional visits to manufacturing floor.
May require lifting up to 25 pounds, standing or sitting for extended periods, and wearing appropriate PPE in production areas.
Regular use of computer and CAD software.
